Abdul-Malik initially studied Arabic language and Shariah under Shaykh S. M. Abdul-Qayum, the Imam and Khatib of the East London Mosque. He then studied Arabic and Shari’ah at the European College of Islamic Studies in France and then in Wales. He also spent some time studying under teachers in the Middle East, foremost amongst them were Shaykh Ahmad Hawwa in Jordan, with whom he studied Shafi’i Fiqh, and Shaykh Munir al-Jawwad Al-Tunisi in Syria, with whom he studied Arabic grammar. Currently in the UK he periodically studies hadith and other Islamic sciences under Shaykh Mohammad Akram Nadwi.
Abdul-Malik is a member of the Islamic Forum of Europe’s central Tarbia committee. He is also the former Tarbia secretary of the Young Muslim Organisation UK and a former president of the Islamic Society at Tower Hamlets College, London.
Abdul-Malik delivers regular talks at the East London on various Islamic topics. He is currently completing his training to become a social worker at the Goldsmiths University of London. He is married and has two boys, Muhammad and Umair.
